It’s PRIDE Month and What Does Pride mean to you?
Pride Month commemorates years of struggle for civil rights and the ongoing pursuit of equal justice under the law for LGBTIQ+ community, as well as the accomplishments of LGBTQ individuals.
But what does Pride mean to you?

Pride celebrates love and acceptance, and gives people a particularly special freedom to express themselves however they would like in regards to their self-identity, partner choice, and more. Pride also promotes equality, visibility, and justice.

Pride in Uganda has long come despite the unlawful laws, police arrests that have been a barrier to the celebrations. For the past two years COVID 19 which has and still the world’s biggest disaster however celebrating pride has been an online engagement. The fact that COVID-19 lock down was a challenge leaving the queer community at a high risk of mental health illnesses and breakdowns due to lack of access to basic health necessities and services.
30th/6/2022 marked 10 years of pride celebrations in Uganda and this year’s pride theme has centered on mental health wellness and a collective healing from the COVID pandemic and creating and strengthening online movement building. Recognizing different activists, organizations and partners for their outstanding courageous inspirational service to the community.
